Bubba now longest on tour by 10 yards; blasts 31 drives 300-plus yards for charity

(PHOENIX) – Busting 31 drives of 300 yards or longer at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Bubba Watson continues to dominate the tour with his all-pink PING G20 driver. He led the field in average driving distance once again at 321.1 yards. Not only does he remain the longest driver on tour, his average distance is a full 10 yards longer than his nearest competitor. Including his tally at Bay Hill, so far this season Watson has raised $61,600 from equipment sponsor PING as part of his effort to raise $1 million for charities this PGA Tour season.

In addition to a $10,000 upfront contribution, PING is supporting “Bubba & Friends Drive to a Million” by donating $300 for every drive he hits 300 yards or more (up to 300 drives) in 2012. PING’s fundraising event is called, “Bubba Long in Pink. Driven by PING.” All funds raised will go to Phoenix-area charities, chosen by PING with Bubba’s support.

On the season, more than 61% of Watson’s drives have traveled 300-plus yards, by far the highest percentage on tour. He competes next at The Masters, April 5-8.
