International Junior Golf Tour Announces Spring 2013 Schedule

Highlights Include Carolina Championship’s Return to Kiawah Island Resort

(HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.) – The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) – one of the leading competitive circuits for elite golfers in grades 5-12 – announces the spring 2013 schedule will feature events in nine U.S. states.

Headquartered on Hilton Head Island, S.C., the IJGT annually holds over 50 two-and three-day tournaments throughout the U.S. IJGT members represent 45 U.S. states and 43 countries.

“The IJGT offers junior golfers of all abilities a unique tournament experience with college placement seminars, mental training sessions and world-class instructional clinics,” says Peter Orrell, President and CEO of Junior Sports Corporation, owner/operator of the IJGT. “We are one of the top junior golf tours in the world, offering elite tournament exemptions, prestigious event venues and national rankings by Golfweek, the American Junior Golf Association and Junior Golf Scoreboard.”

Feb. 9-10, the IJGT’s top players visit Colleton River Plantation (Bluffton, S.C.), site of the 2015 U.S. Amateur, for a 36-hole shootout.

The annual Carolina Championship (Feb. 16-17) returns to Kiawah Island Resort in S.C., host of last August’s 2012 PGA Championship. Participants will compete on the world-renowned Ocean and Turtle Point courses.

One week later (Feb. 23-24), the IJGT heads to Savannah Harbor, Ga., home to the Champions Tour’s Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf each April.

April 13-14, the IJGT will again host The Battle at Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre de Grace, Md. From 2005-2009, Bulle Rock hosted the McDonald’s LPGA Championship.

IJGT alumni include U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson, Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan, Paula Creamer and many other PGA and LPGA Tour players. Graduates of the IJGT’s 2012 class play at several top NCAA collegiate programs across the country: the University of South Carolina, Wake Forest University, Florida State University and the University of Southern California, to name a few.
