Schulz’ second round started out very steady with pars on his first eight holes and one birdie on hole #9.  His back nine was a little more adventurous with birdies on #13 and #16 and a bogey on #14.  “I just wanted to keep playing steady and make birdies,” said Shultz of his first two rounds. After winning the Holden Cup charity event at Belle Haven and finishing in third place at the 2013 Maryland Open, Schultz’ game is in a position to win this championship.

Right behind Schultz with a score of 137 (67-70) is Jim Estes, PGA Director of Instruction of Olney Golf Park in Olney, Md.  Estes was the 1995 MAPGA Player of the Year and is a past recipient of the PGA of America’s Patriot Award for his efforts as the co-founder of the Salute Military Golf Association.

Four female players were in the field.  One of these players, Randi Miller, the PGA Director of Instruction at Trump National Golf Club Washington D.C. made the 36-hole cut and is tied for 31st.  Miller played for the University of Texas Women’s Golf team and spent a little time on the LPGA’s Symetra Tour.

Players in the field shooting 153 or better, made the cut into the final round.  Tee times for the final round will begin Wednesday on the Gold course at 8 a.m.  For a complete listing of tee times and results, please visit MAPGA.com.
