ASGCA President Rick Robbins, Fellow Members to Discuss Increase of '3 R's' at Golf Industry Show

'Trends in Contemporary Golf Course Architecture' presentation includes "renovation, restoration and resurfacing" and international projects

(BROOKFIELD, Wis.) - American Society of Golf Course Architects President Rick Robbins will lead a discussion highlighting the increase in "3 R's" projects in golf course design on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Golf Industry Show in Orlando, Fla. The session - and reports on renovation, restoration, and resurfacing - will be held in Room W311E of the Orange County (Fla.) Convention Center at 3:30 p.m.

Robbins will be joined by fellow presenters Lester George, ASGCA, Robert McNeil, ASGCA and Jason Straka, ASGCA. The discussion will serve as the annual "Trends in Contemporary Golf Course Architecture" session held each year as part of the Educational Conference at GIS.

Two other areas of growing industry concern are water conservation and Pace of Play. The "Trends" panel will provide examples in each area showing collaboration of ASGCA members working with golf course owners, managers and superintendents leading to improved outcomes.

A number of projects in these areas were highlighted in the 2013 ASGCA Design Excellence Recognition Program. Recognized projects will be discussed and detail provided. Other topics scheduled for the panel discussion include greater emphasis on practice facilities (especially short-game areas), designing for maintenance reduction and an international projects update.
