Billy Casper Golf’s ‘World’s Largest Golf Outing’ Less Than Two Weeks Away

Tee Times Still Available in Quest to Raise $1,000,000 for Wounded Warrior Project

(VIENNA, VA) – In less than two weeks, Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – the largest owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts in the U.S. – will host the fourth annual “World’s Largest Golf Outing,” Monday, August 11 with a goal of raising $1,000,000 for Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).

While spots have filled quickly at many of BCG’s 120 participating golf courses, tee times remain at several locations conducting the simultaneous golf event.  World’s Largest Golf Outing is open to all players regardless of ability, and a USGA handicap is not required.

More information and to register: www.worldslargestgolfouting.com.

With nearly $250,000 raised for WWP and 6,650 registered players to date, BCG hopes to reach $1,000,000 from this year’s event, eclipsing a record-setting $735,000 and 10,000 golfers in 2013.

“I was in the Navy and saw, first-hand, the effects of front-line combat,” says Billy Casper, BCG namesake, Master’s champion and two-time U.S. Open winner.  “We appeal to you to participate in the World’s Largest Golf Outing to improve the lives of injured service men and women, as well as their families.”

“Support for this meaningful event continues to grow and the amount of donations given by Billy Casper Golf’s loyal golfers to date is awe inspiring,” says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG.  “In just two weeks’ time, the nation will see thousands of people come together to give back to our veterans.”

Part of event proceeds and all donations from non-players benefit WWP, the national organization whose mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors – some of whom will be playing in the World’s Largest Golf Outing.  Teams are encouraged to raise additional funds to support the worthy cause; donations to WWP unrelated to event participation are made at www.worldslargestgolfouting.com.

“The outpouring from across the country has been amazing,” says Sergeant Robert Maier, an injured service member who survived two IED attacks and played in the 2013 World’s Largest Golf Outing.  “The money raised does wondrous things for us and our families.”

All players are eligible to win a trip for four to the Nike Campus in Beaverton, OR, for custom club-fitting and other merchandise.  The top fundraising team will win a trip for four to Pinehurst Resort (NC), site of the 2014 men’s and women’s U.S. Open Championships, to play the famous No. 2 golf course and stay at the iconic Carolina Hotel.

Product Review: Mission Belt Company

What’s the worst thing about the belt you’re currently wearing on the golf course? Are the holes stretched out? Is it cracked? Are you between sizes (most belt holes are about an inch apart - leaving the “in-betweeners” with too tight or too loose a fit. Do you only have one color - black, for instance?

Let’s face it, golf is a stylish game. Take care to wear the right shorts, shirt, hat and shoes and you look nice. Strap on the wrong belt and you look like a schmuck. Not if you know about Mission Belt Company.

Mission Belt Co. grew out of a desire to be socially responsible by helping in the fight against global hunger and poverty. We’re all aware of the phrase: Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime. Similarly, Mission Belt donates a dollar from every belt sold to groups like Kiva - a non-profit, peer-to-peer micro-lending organization.

Luis Melendez of Panama has benefitted from such a cause - leaving a back-breaking job on the docks to start a small bussing company. From one bus to three, Melendez is a success story.

Heartwarming and inspirational, but how can a Mission Belt solve your style dilemma? First, it has no holes and it adjusts every 1/4 inch - not every inch - providing an exact, comfortable fit. Plus, this leather won’t crack. Colors? They’ve got the hue for you - from black, navy and red to white, yellow pink and so many more.

Beyond belts ... Mission also has myriad buckles from which to choose. Customize until your heart is content.

To learn more about Mission Belt and/or their mission, log onto www.missionbelt.com. A worthy cause that’s in your style interest ... Mission Belt Co. is fighting global hunger and poverty one belt at a time, and making golfers look great while doing it.

Outer Beauty, Inner Beast: Nags Head Golf Links in NC's Outer Banks

Nags Head Golf Links in North Carolina’s Outer Banks takes on entirely different appearances from day to day — sometimes even moment to moment

(OUTER BANKS, N.C.) — With beach chairs in tow, a man and woman begin their plodding descent from atop Jockey’s Ridge — the tallest natural sand dune in the Eastern United States. Their sunset-seeking mission has just been cut short by the rumble of an approaching thunderstorm. Sand beneath their feet, a memorable day of vacation slowly shifts into nighttime mode across North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

Just a few miles south, the Nags Head Golf Links staff shutters its sound-side clubhouse as the storm begins to touch the plush, green-carpeted landscape. With their last golf cart safely tucked away after a day of calm, the attendants depart for home; fully anticipating entirely different conditions the subsequent morning.

A “cold front” passing through that night does indeed brings a different look, feel and challenge to Nags Head the following day. With its guard down just hours prior, Nags Head was vulnerable to well-executed tee balls, feathered iron shots and precisely-read putting strokes. Today, with whitecaps lapping on the Roanoke Sound, temperatures “only” in the 70s and the wind blowing steadily across well-manicured fairways, the strategy is vastly different. It is British Open interpretation golf — windbreakers and wind-breaking shots; a feast of 9-iron knockdowns.

One day the beauty, the next day the beast. Such is the golf life for nearly 6,200 yards out on a barrier island.

The central portion of OBX is considered the town of Nags Head along with neighboring Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills. It is a land of cottages and small hotels, crafted in a style often copied by beach home designs up and down the East Coast.

OBX is a region defined by its numbers. You always know where you are by its mileposts. At milepost 4 there’s Barefoot Bernie’s, a popular restaurant/bar. At No. 6 you can take in a movie. At No. 7, you can shop the island’s only department store, a Belk. At No. 8 there is the Wright Brothers’ Monument. At No. 12 looms Jockey’s Ridge.

Nags Head, with it small-town atmosphere and family operated businesses, comprises 6.5 miles of territory. Eleven miles of ocean slap up against Nags Head beachfront.

The number 12 is the amount of years Randy Hall has been working as a starter at Nags Head Golf Links — which, incidentally, rolls past milepost 15. The Rocky Mount native migrated to the beach shortly after graduating from high school off the lure of surfing. That was in the early ’70s. With surfing now in his past, he now spends much of his time working and playing at golf.

“It seems so long ago, I can’t even relate to there [life in the Carolina interior],” Hall said.

The Nags Head motif is often borrowed though rarely duplicated. Almost no one can match the style of golf found at Nags Head Golf Links. A unique piece of property enabled designer Bob Moore to craft a landscape and environment that is indeed a one-of-a-kind opportunity for those who love the game. The Scottish-style approach is challenging and awe inspiring all in one.

“A group of professional surfers from Southern California came out here a few years back and the one comment they made to me was, ‘Wow, the East Coast is not what we expected,’” Hall said. “They were impressed by the coloration of sunsets and the beauty of the golf course. It just wasn’t what they had expected when leaving the West Coast.”

The Outer Banks, with its constantly shifting sand and changing forecasts, is known for is adaptability. The same goes for Nags Head Golf Links.

“The course has been opened up a lot since I started playing here,” Hall said. “They’ve done that to improve the pace of play. There are a lot more areas now for you to land the ball and play out of instead of having it end up in the junk.”

Still, Nags Head is a layout you need to play a few times before you truly find yourself at ease.

“I call it having ‘golfer’s remorse,’ like buyer’s remorse,” Hall said. “After you have played it for the first time, you often end up saying to yourself, ‘I wish I’d played it that way, or I wish I’d aimed over there.’ Golfer’s remorse. With its killer views and mystery-around-every bend design, it’s definitely a course you need to come back to — and you’ll do better.”

Kananaskis Country Restoration to Renew Canadian Rockies Golf Destination to Full Glory

(CANMORE, Alberta) – Canadian Rockies Golf (www.canadianrockiesgolf.net) – the inspiring collection of mountain courses in western Alberta – welcomes the provincial announcement that $18 million will go toward rebuilding the 36-hole Kananaskis Country Golf Course.

A favorite of Albertans and global tourists alike, the Robert Trent Jones-designed Mt. Lorette and Mt. Kidd courses have been closed since the June 2013 flood.  In addition to the golf courses, the Alberta government also committed $60 million to restore campgrounds, day-use areas and recreation trails.

Work to refurbish the courses to their original design and protect them from future flooding is expected to begin later this year.

“We’re deeply gratified by the news and what it means to the community, our team, local businesses and provincial tourism,” said Kananaskis Country Golf Course General Manager Darren Robinson, who has been with KCGC for 17 years.

A 2011 study showed the significance of Kananaskis Country Golf Course to the province as it produced a net economic impact of $14 million while sustaining 175 full-time equivalent jobs. KCGC hosted an annual average of 60,000 rounds in its last five years of operation and 85 percent of those golfers were Albertans – who receive a reduced rate.

“Kananaskis Country’s economic impact over the past 30 years cannot be overstated,” said Darren Cooke, General Manager at Canmore Golf & Curling Club and Canadian Rockies Golf spokesperson. “The re-opened courses and other recreational activities will immediately provide more leisure options for all Albertans, as well as significantly more tourists and revenue for Alberta and the Canadian Rockies destination overall.”

Known for its inspiring beauty and pristine, unspoiled natural setting, Kananaskis Country joins other acclaimed Canadian Rockies Golf partners as regular fixtures in yearly “best of” rankings by Score Golf and Canadian Golf Magazine. The two separate and distinct championship courses at KCGC are surrounded by rugged mountains towering 10,000 feet (3000m) above sea level and are named after two of the towering limestone peaks that serve as their backdrop.

U.S.-Sino Cup competition debuts in China as World Amateur dates near

(Myrtle Beach, SC) – Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday is continuing to grow its relationship with the emerging Chinese golf market with the staging of the first U.S.-Sino Cup at the Nanshan International Golf Club in Yantai, China.

A team of 12 low-handicap American golfers visited northeast China, June 30-July 5, to face a Chinese team in the inaugural head-to-head matches, playing a 36-hole, gross aggregate scoring competition. The Chinese team won by 28 strokes during the four-day event that included two practice rounds and a 36-hole tournament on the Montgomerie and Pine Canyon courses at Nanshan International.

Competitors were determined by participation in the Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship and the World Amateur China qualifiers.

"It was another one of the building blocks in our growing relationship with China and to keep Myrtle Beach at the forefront of their minds as they grow rapidly in golf," said Jeff Monday, the tournament director for the World Amateur Handicap Championship, and an attendee at the event. "It was one of the greatest experiences I’ve had, with great hospitality – from the people, the golf courses, competition, accommodations and food. We look forward to making this an even bigger event every year."

The 2015 U.S.-Sino Cup is scheduled to be held in conjunction with the World Amateur Handicap Championship in Myrtle Beach.

Most of the American team – 10 of the 12 players – will be determined from the gross division that debuts at this year’s World Amateur, which is scheduled for August 25-29. The other two team members will be ‘Captain's Picks', as chosen by Monday, the U.S. Captain.

Deadline for entry in this year’s World Amateur is August 7. The 31st World Amateur is the world’s largest golf tournament with approximately 3,500 participants from 26 countries competing on more than 60 courses along the 'Grand Strand'.

This year marks the third time China has sent qualifiers to the World Amateur, the result of approximately 1,000 entries into 12 nationwide qualifying tournaments and a final qualifier, the World Amateur Handicap Championship China.

China’s U.S.-Sino Cup team was finalised by the qualifiers, and nine players from the World Amateur China will make the trip to Myrtle Beach for the competition.

The connection with China began in partnership with sports marketing firm Olle Sports of Guangzhou, China. Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday President, Bill Golden, and Myrtle Beach Mayor, John Rhodes, attended the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) Convention in China last March to interact with Chinese and Asian tourism officials and have visited China on other occasions.

Also, three Chinese citizens have purchased five Myrtle Beach courses within the past year – one of those soon after participating in the World Amateur. Myrtle Beach resident and ambassador, Dustin Johnson, drew even more attention to the area last November when he won the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions in Shanghai, China.

El Macero CC Taps David Sutherland as Club Ambassador

Former PGA TOUR Pro to Offer Instruction and Monthly Complimentary Group Clinics

(Scottsdale, Az.) – The golf experience at El Macero Country Club was greatly enhanced recently with the addition of former PGA TOUR golf professional David Sutherland as its new Club Ambassador.

Sutherland, who played on the TOUR for 17 years will offer golf instruction to Club members and also share his experience with El Macero’s professional staff on golf instruction philosophies and best practice techniques. Sutherland will also offer monthly complimentary group clinics, participate in some of EMCC golf events, offer tips on the range and practice facilities and play rounds with EMCC members on a part-time basis.

“I was extremely interested in getting back into golf as a player and an instructor and El Macero reached out to me and made such an earnest effort to include me in the club,” said Sutherland. “I’ll be partnering with the golf staff in numerous activities including clinics and junior camps. It’ a wonderful opportunity and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be associated with an outstanding club like El Macero.”

Sutherland, who is also the Head Men’s and Women’s Golf Coach at Sacramento State University played in over 200 events on the PGA TOUR with eight Top Ten finishes. He placed second at The Greater Milwaukee Open in 1997, 3rd place at the 2004 Southern Open and won in Salt Lake City in 2000 on the Web.com Tour when he was in the middle of rehabilitation after undergoing shoulder surgery.

“David will be a tremendous asset to El Macero Country Club. Not only will he be able to impart his vast knowledge of the game as a former pro golfer on the PGA TOUR, but his short game is exceptional and with our new facility opening up in the Fall, the timing is perfect to introduce David to our staff and members,” said David Knox, general manager at El Macero Country Club. “Golf is our core passion and we want the total golf experience at El Macero Country Club to be second to none in our region and we feel we will accomplish that goal.”

The $250,000 Aggie Short Game Training Center is a state-of-the-art facility and is a partnership between UC Davis Athletics, El Macero Country Club and Troon Golf. Funded by alumni, families and friends of the UC Davis golf program, construction on the facility began in late April and will open up in the coming months. Once completed, the training complex will feature two putting greens with chipping, pitching and bunker areas that will incorporate every type of short game shot. A wedge range with multiple targets at varying distances is also part of the project.

“The short game facility is a marvelous addition to the Club and its partnership with UC Davis should be seen as a model that can be created between clubs and universities,” added Sutherland.

El Macero Country Club is managed by Troon Privé, the private club division of Troon. Members at Troon Privé-managed Clubs enjoy reciprocal play at more than 30 private clubs around the world, as well as preferred rates at Troon Golf-managed daily fee and resort facilities. The Troon Privé portfolio includes such private clubs of distinction as BallenIsles in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Fieldstone in Greenville, Delaware; Silver Creek Valley in San Jose, California; St. James Plantation in Southport, North Carolina; Pronghorn in Bend, Oregon; Ocean Club in Paradise Island, Bahamas; Settlers Run in Cranbourne South, Victoria, Australia and Bearwood Lakes in London, England.

Fiercely Competitive, Refreshingly Candid Lanny Wadkins Guests on the Next Episode of Feherty

Episode Airs July 28 at 9 p.m. on Golf Channel

(ORLANDO, Fla.) – When David Feherty moved to the United States from his native Northern Ireland in 1993, Lanny Wadkins was the first to greet him and help him settle in to this new country. More than two decades later, the Hall-of-Famer and the Emmy Award-nominated host get together at one of their favorite Dallas restaurants to discuss Wadkins’ career on the next episode of Feherty, airing Monday at 9 p.m. ET on Golf Channel.

Wadkins’ stories are as diverse as winning money from Ben Hogan to a close encounter with a naked Mickey Mantle in a clubhouse dining room. As a cocky kid out of Wake Forest University, he ruffled many feathers in those early days with bold predictions that he went on to exceed with a record-setting, Rookie-of-the-Year campaign.

Other topics covered in the interview include Wadkins’ stellar Ryder Cup career – he is one of the U.S. team’s all-time highest points earner – which included contentious matches with Seve Ballesteros, a pair of matches against Feherty during the famous “War by the Shore” at Kiawah, and one of the greatest shots in Ryder Cup history when he secured a victory in 1983. When that wedge shot landed just feet from the cup – as a bolt of lightning struck in the background – it inspired Jack Nicklaus to literally kiss Wadkins’ divot.

Wadkins’ gives his unvarnished opinions about everything from modern players’ use of social media and the state of the game to his ambivalent emotions in regard to his induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame, something that many of his contemporaries felt was overdue.

Season four of Feherty will continue Aug. 18, with Feherty’s fascinating conversation with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Future scheduled episodes include college football coaching legend Lou Holtz and affable golfer Sam Torrance, among others.

Feherty originally debuted in June 2011 as the most-watched original series in Golf Channel history. David Feherty, Emmy nominated this year for Outstanding Sports Personality, has gone one-on-one with celebrities across golf, sports and entertainment, including former President Bill Clinton, basketball Hall-of-Famers Bill Russell and Charles Barkley, actors Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson, and golfers Tom Watson and Greg Norman.

DS-1 Putter, the first of the 'Designer Series' Putters from KZG

(NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif.) – KZG, the #1 Custom ProLine, is introducing the DS-1, the first model in its Limited Edition “Designer Series” of putters.

The putter is the most used club in every golfer’s bag. Yet, so little attention has been paid to how it is manufactured, designed and fit for the golfer. KZG aims to change all of that with its new Designer Series program.

Each putter in the Designer Series will be designed by one of the Top 100 ClubFitters in the World …  experienced and highly skilled fitters who have worked with many of the top touring professionals as well as average golfers.

The DS-1 was designed by Bryan “Buddy” Beem who has been rated among the World’s Top 100 ClubFitters for 9 years in a row and has had over 30 years experience working with touring professionals, head pros, avid golfers, university teams and junior amateurs. He is called “Uncle Buddy” by the top junior golfers in Colorado. Out of the top 20 players on the Colorado junior circuit, 15 have been coached and fit by ‘Uncle Buddy’ and they all play KZG. Buddy owns Buddy Beem Custom Clubs near Denver, Colorado.

In designing the DS-1, Buddy reports: “I chose a triple-forged process so that the putter is extremely responsive and helps my golfers learn to feel the subtle differences in the way they make contact with the ball. Over time, they will be able to consistently repeat their best strokes. And forged putters definitely are the easiest putters for making lie and loft adjustments, which is absolutely critical for a perfect fit,” he adds.

“The perimeter weighting on the DS-1 is designed for stability, the leading edge is cambered and the micro-milled face gives a clean, sharp roll for better control.” Buddy reports: “the whole set up and look at address makes it easy to just ‘point and shoot.’”

In designing the DS-1 putter, Buddy notes that “right-eye-dominant players need an offset neck and clear alignment markings to help them set up with the ball precisely in the middle of their stance. The DS-1 addresses this phenomenon, ensuring that the putter head will be square to the player’s target line as the ball leaves the face.”

“KZG works with its engineers, but we go a step further and rely heavily on design feedback from the finest fitters and teachers in the golf industry” reports Jennifer King, president of KZG. “We believe it is the professionals that are working with golfers day in and day out that are best informed on what the golfer needs for a better game. We are very appreciative of Buddy’s efforts in making the DS-1 such a great performing putter that is already gaining rave reviews.”

The Designer Series was created to cover critical variables in the stroke that are often overlooked by other manufacturers. The beauty of KZG clubs is that every design is conceived to meet the needs of a particular type of golfer.

Every DS-1 putter will be custom fit to each golfer’s unique specifications as KZG products are only available through KZG’s network of highly qualified professional teachers and fitters which are listed on the Dealer Locator at www.kzg.com.

Available in either brushed satin or matte black, the MSRP for the DS-I Putters is $299.

Sports Producer/Director Terry Jastrow Announces Completion of His First Feature Film, The Squeeze

Film Targeted for Theaters Spring 2015

(Los Angeles, CA) - Multiple Emmy-winning TV sports producer/director Terry Jastrow announced his first film "The Squeeze" will hit theaters in the spring of 2015. Jastrow wrote and directed the caper-golf movie, which recently had its first industry private screening at United Talent Agency in Hollywood to an enthusiastic audience that included film distributors, cast and crew, Terry's wife and co-producer, actress Anne Archer, and golfer Phil Mickelson.

"The Squeeze" is a true story about a young man from a small southern town who gets caught in between two notorious gamblers, until the stakes become a matter of life or death. The film, which stars Jeremy Sumpter ("Friday Night Lights"), Christopher McDonald (Shooter McGavin in "Happy Gilmore"), Jillian Murray and Michael Nouri has been submitted to the Toronto Film Festival in September.

"Making this movie is a dream come true," says Jastrow, the longtime ABC Sports producer and director. "For many years as a sports director working for the legendary Roone Arledge, I was schooled in the art of storytelling...'the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat, the human drama of athletic competition' … and am very pleased to apply those concepts now to movie making."

A seven-time Emmy Award winner, Jastrow has produced or directed more major championships than anyone in history, with 62 U.S. Opens, British Opens and PGA Championships. Now Jastrow has turned his attention to writing and directing feature films and stage plays.

Next up for Jastrow is a play he wrote and will direct this summer at the world's largest arts festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The play -- entitled "The Trial of Jane Fonda" -- stars Archer. Performances run July 31-August 24.

Two Jason Straka-Designed Golf Courses Win Golf Inc. 2014 Renovation of the Year Awards

Ambiente, Hole No. 12 - Photo by Dave Sansom
(DUBLIN, Ohio) – Two Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design principal designed courses (www.frystraka.com) have won an award in Golf Inc.'s 2014 Renovation of the Year Competition, a contest which annually seeks to recognize the best renovation projects of the past year from around the world. Jason Straka, a principal in Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design, oversaw both projects, designed on behalf of Hurdzan/Fry Environmental Golf Design.

In the daily/fee public courses category, Camelback Golf Club (Ambiente course), at the historic JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz., won the first-place award. And in the private courses category, Columbia Country Club, in Columbia, Mo., managed by Dallas-based Eagle Golf, won the third-place award.

“It is an extraordinary honor to be recognized for two of our renovation projects in the 2014 Golf Inc. Renovation of the Year competition,” Straka said. “Dedication to client satisfaction is our guiding principle, and these awards affirm our commitment as we strive to design courses and renovations that exceed the expectations at each club.”

Submissions for the Golf Inc. 2014 Renovation Competition were judged on how well the renovations improved the course, based on four primary criteria: routing, playability, maintainability and aesthetics. Entrants were asked to describe how the renovation achieved its purpose through concrete results.

Nemacolin Woodlands - So Much More Than Golf

Nemacolin Woodlands, tucked away in southwestern Pennsylvania, is home to a remarkable golf course - Mystic Rock - but offers so much more. From fine dining and 5-star accommodations, to rustic outdoor adventure and a cigar bar ... this resort has it all.

Mystic Rock
First things first - golf. Designed by the living legend Pete Dye, Mystic Rock is a par-72 layout that played host to the PGA TOUR’s finest from 2000-2006. Winners included World Golf Hall of Fame member Vijay Singh (2004) and 2003 Open Champion Ben Curtis (2006).

Stretching to 7,526 yards (149 slope) from the tips, Mystic Rock is all the course anyone could desire. Five sets of tees - shrinking to 4,848 yards - make Mystic Rock playable by even novice golfers, however.

Among the many accolades Mystic Rock has received are “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” and “American’s Top 50 Courses for Women” by Golf Digest, as well as “America’s 100 Best Resort Golf Courses” by Golfweek.

Joining Mystic Rock is The Links - a more manageable option for golfers looking to enjoy a round of golf. At just 6,658 yards from the tips, this par-70 track isn’t long by today’s standards, but still offers challenging greens and hazards are plentiful.

Worried your game isn’t ready for either course? Lessons are available at the Nemacolin Golf Academy, which has ties to professional golfer (and son of a World Golf Hall of Famer) Wayne Gary Player.

Fatbird SuperFlyer
As promised in the opening, this is not merely a golf resort. For the guests who love the outdoors, there's the Nemacolin Field Club, which weaves through 140-acres of woodlands, valleys and pastures in the Laurel Highlands Mountains. The Club includes The Shooting Academy (sporting clays), Orvis Fly Fishing Center, archery and air rifle.

For those interested in guided pheasant and chukar hunts, look at the Upland Bird Packages, which are available September through April. Guided turkey hunts also are offered.

The greatest array of guest offerings are in the resort's Adventure Center. The Fatbird SuperFlyer is a race of dueling ziplines, reaching speeds of 60 mph high above the slopes at Mystic Mountain. During the warmer months, the Sundial Lodge is the centralized hub for the Adventure Center and Mystic Mountain. The Sundial also features: Apex, a restaurant and bar, an eight-lane bowling alley, arcade games, a rental shop, retail shop and more.

There's the Jeep Off-Road Driving Academy for the do-it-yourself adventure crowd, or "Ride Alongs," which are 30-minute sessions of off-roading with an experienced driver.
Zipline tours, a 50-foot climbing wall, disc golf, a downhill mountain bike trail, miniature golf, The Hardy Girls Gymnasium, Little Tykes Ropes Course, paintball - both target and combat - and tennis are also available.

Prefer a more tranquil activity? Enjoy a relaxing hot-rock massage at the Woodlands Spa. There are myriad offerings there, as well as some recovery time at the resort's Holistic Healing Center. With inner beauty taken care of, guests can turn their attention outward at the salon and Kidz Spa.

Falling Rock
While staying at Nemacolin Woodlands, you have a wide variety of accommodations from which to choose. Underline and bold WIDE. From 5-star service - complete with a butler service - at Falling Rock to the more common Chateau and Lodge, there’s an option for any budget. You can also rent townhomes or luxury homes, or connect your recreational vehicle at Maggie Valley RV Park.

The resort is pet friendly, too. While the two-bedroom townhomes provide an on-location option for pets, there’s also Nemacolin Wooflands Resort & Spa if you’re interested in pampering your dog while on vacation.

Last, but certainly not least, Nemacolin Woodlands is flush with dining opportunities. There’s fine dining at spots like Aqueos and the Sunset Terrace, which focuses on regional cuisine and reducing our carbon footprint. Golf Pride Continues Majors Dominance As Most Trusted Grip at Royal Liverpool

(SOUTHERN PINES, N.C.) - Power management company Eaton announced that its Golf Pride Grips Division was the prevailing grip of choice by players at the 2014 Open Championship, played at historic Royal Liverpool. In fact, 122 of the 156 (78%) players competing in the game’s most storied major, trusted their games to Golf Pride grips.

Of those playing Golf Pride, 24 players relied on Golf Pride’s popular New Decade MultiCompound grips in trying to conquer the narrow fairways and deep heather grass at Hoylake. That single model’s usage exceeded any other competing brand’s total usage. Furthermore, 86 players relied on one of the popular Tour Velvet models (Tour Velvet, Tour Velvet Cord or Tour Velvet Super Tack), making the Tour Velvet greater than 2.5 times more popular than all other competitors’ grips combined.

“The Open Championship is widely acknowledged as the major contested in the most challenging of weather conditions,” said Brandon Sowell, global sales and marketing director for Golf Pride. “With weather that can change from one minute to the next having grips that are versatile enough to handle the varying conditions are integral to a player’s success. To that end, hybrid and full cord type grips can provide extra stability in the windy and rainy weather that players often encounter when competing in the British Isles, and no other grip company offers as many diverse cord and hybrid performance options as Golf Pride.”

(NORTHBROOK, Ill.) – KemperSports announced today that more than 3,500 brand new golfers were introduced to the game of golf during KemperSports’ Player Development Week which took place June 23-29, at all KemperSports facilities around the country.  As part of the week-long celebration, golf courses were encouraged to give complimentary golf lessons and tips from their professional staff.

Player Development Week was the cornerstone and celebration of KemperSports’ Player Development Program – a proprietary initiative built to provide tools and best practices to a portfolio of more than 100 public, private and resort golf courses around the country.  The program is geared to deliver innovative ways to reach an entire demographic of non-golfers.

In addition to complimentary lessons, each KemperSports property was tasked with creating fun and engaging activities to entice golfers and non-golfers alike to visit their property.
