Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design Selected For Renovation of Little Mountain Country Club

(DUBLIN, Ohio) – Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design (www.frystraka.com), has been selected to design and oversee a renovation of Little Mountain Country Club, in Concord, Ohio. Jason Straka, a principal of the award-winning design firm, will direct the project.

“I look forward to working with my longtime friends at Little Mountain to restore the beauty and glory of the course to honor its 2006-’07 Golf Digest ranking as one of only seventeen five-star public golf courses in the country,” Straka said.

Little Mountain CC, located 35 minutes east of Cleveland, opened in 2000. Like many other courses, it has faced a myriad of challenges over the past decade and is adapting to meet the evolving golf market. The renovation will entail many changes that will make the layout more playable and appealing to a wider diversity of golfers, including more women and juniors, while also pleasing those who frequent the course already. The intent is to create a faster and more enjoyable round of golf and to improve the course conditioning.

Straka will concentrate on redesigning the bunkers; altering some of the clearing lines on the treed course, thereby restoring and enhancing the beauty of creek views and play corridors; and easing golf cart, maintenance vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow.

What golfers who have played Little Mountain CC in the past will notice most will be the dramatic change in style and improved playability of the bunkering, which will result in increased speed of play and a newer and visually appealing experience.

“The course will remain open during the renovation,” said Jimmy Hanlin, PGA, director of golf at Little Mountain CC. “Construction will begin in August and should be complete by the end of the year. We all are excited about the project and already are envisioning what our beautifully renovated golf course will look like.”
