LochenHeath Golf Club Debuts on Golf Digest Prestigious 'Best in State' Rankings

(Traverse City, MI) – LochenHeath Golf Club, one of the premier golf experiences in northern Michigan, makes its debut on Golf Digest Magazine’s prestigious “Best in State” rankings. The course, located along the shores of Grand Traverse Bay, was ranked No. 12 among Michigan’s top courses.

“It is an honor to be ranked that high with so many great golf courses in the state of Michigan,” said Kevin O’Brien, General Manager of LochenHeath. “This recognition is a testament to the vision of our course designer, Steve Smyers, and the exemplary conditioning and service our team puts forth.”

The publication's biennial review of America's top courses and “Best in State” appears in the February 2015 issue. Golf Digest used over 1,100 members of its Course Ranking Panel and asked each to submit ballots based on such areas as shot values, resistance to scoring, design variety, memorability, aesthetics, conditioning, and ambience.

The rankings can be found at http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-courses/michigan.

As a semi-private golf community, LochenHeath Golf Club has its own unique residential identity located just minutes from beautiful Traverse City in Northern Michigan, and centered around the 7,239-yard course designed by the nationally acclaimed architect Smyers.

LochenHeath is transitioning to becoming a private club. "We have a robust and growing membership, but during the next two to three year transition period, outside guests and golf aficionados will have the opportunity to experience an exceptional golf course with the hopes of becoming a member,” added O’Brien

The par 72 course, created within a 300-acre cherry orchard, features four sets of tees; rolling hills of native grasses, and well contoured challenging greens. The course plays firm and fast with two water hazards, making it fun for all golfers. Views of beautiful Grand Traverse Bay can be seen from 14 holes. The facility also contains an expansive practice facility, full-service restaurant, and banquet facilities for 250 guests.

“LochenHeath sits on an extraordinary site with great movement to the land and with the backdrop of the Bay, it doesn’t get much better. We are really proud to have received this recognition by Golf Digest.”
