Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca – owners of the “World’s Best Restaurant” – join the Costa Brava Barcelona 2022 team

Commenting on the bid to bring golf’s biggest match to the region, Joan Roca said: “Catalunya has a proven pedigree in organizing the world’s largest events. We are a destination with a hospitality industry committed to excellence.”

Speaking of the region he calls home, Jordi Roca said: “For me, my favorite spot on the Costa Brava is undoubtedly the city of Girona. Getting into town is very easy and the city has so much history, with great cultural heritage and many places to discover again and again. It is definitely my favorite place.”

Josep Roca added: “Catalunya has a unique relationship with food. Gastronomy is a major part of our culture. It embodies our philosophy of life. Catalunya is waiting for you with love, generosity, hospitality and great food – with a table set for you. If we are successful in our bid, we hope you will come and enjoy The Ryder Cup in our beautiful region.”

The Roca Brothers lead a raft of pioneering chefs that have propelled Girona and the Costa Brava region into becoming the ‘must visit’ destination for international foodies.  The province of Girona alone boasts 13 Michelin starred restaurants (with 17 stars between them). If selected as host, visitors to a Ryder Cup in Spain in 2022 will be spoilt for choice when it comes to sampling some of the best food on the planet.

The Roca Brothers are the latest celebrities to get behind the bid to bring The 2022 Match to PGA Catalunya Resort’s Stadium course – joining Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola and FC Barcelona’s Xavi Hernández as bid ambassadors.

Ryder Cup Europe will announce the successful host nation in Autumn 2015.
