The Web.com Tour is the developmental tour for the PGA TOUR, and features a mix of rising stars and proven veterans looking to regain their TOUR cards. An additional 25 cards will be handed out at the conclusion of the Web.com Tour Finals. Since 2013, the Web.com Tour has been the pathway for those seeking to earn their PGA TOUR card. The Qualifying Tournament, which had previously been the primary route for qualifying for the PGA TOUR, has been converted as an entryway to the Web.com Tour.

Twelve First Stage events were conducted throughout late September and early October in locations across the country from Florida to California. All five Second Stage events are taking place in November, with the Qualifying Tournament Finals set for Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler. Players who advance to Qualifying Tournament Finals will be assured of at least conditional status on the Web.com Tour in 2018.

The Final Stage of Web.com Tour Qualifying Tournament will be played on Whirlwind’s two Gary Panks-designed golf courses – Devil’s Claw and The Cattail. Since opening in 2000, Whirlwind Golf Club has established itself as one of Arizona’s top professional tournament venues, having hosted events for the PGA of America, the USGA, and the Web.com Tour's Gila River Golf Classic. In addition to professional tournaments, Whirlwind hosts numerous charitable events for organizations including the Boys and Girls Club, City of Hope, Cox Charities and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation.  The Web.com Tour’s Gila River Golf Classic presented by Wild Horse Pass was held from 2001 to 2005 and played on the Devil's Claw course for the first two years, then shifted to the Cattail course for the final three years.
